Course overview:
The purpose of this session is to provide learners with the basic knowledge to identify workplace hazards and contribute to the positive health and safety culture within the workplace.
Course learning outcomes:
By the end of the day, learners will be able to:• Define the terms Health, Safety and Welfare
• Discuss Employee Responsibilities
• Define the terms Accident, Near Miss, Hazard, Likelihood, Consequence, Risk, Solution and Residual Risk
• Discuss the term Accident Pyramid
• Discuss the 5 steps of Risk Assessment
• Carry out a simple Risk Assessment
• Explore and discuss RIDDOR, COSHH, Legionella and Stress
• Discuss the common causes of absence from work
• Explain the importance of maintaining effective health and safety at work
